Bhimtal does not ask you to rush. The town sits around a calm lake, the air is cool, and the best plans are the simple ones. If you are visiting for a weekend, here is an easy way to fill your days without feeling hurried.
Morning: begin by the lake
Start early. The lake is quietest in the morning, the light is soft and the town is only just waking up. Take a slow walk along the water, stop for a cup of tea and simply look around. Many guests say this short walk is the part of the trip they remember most.
After breakfast, walk through the local market. It is a good place for snacks, warm tea and small souvenirs to take home.
Afternoon: visit the nearby lakes
Bhimtal is surrounded by well-known lakes. Naukuchiatal and Sattal are both a short drive away, and each has its own mood. You do not need to see everything in one day. Pick one lake, spend time there, and keep the rest for the next day.
Evening: dinner and the rooftop cafe
Head back to the hotel as the light fades. Our restaurant serves meals in a warm dining hall, and the buffet counter works well for families and groups. If you would rather stay out in the open, the rooftop cafe is a lovely place for tea or coffee once the lights come on.
A few simple tips
Carry a light jacket, because evenings in the hills can be cool even when days are warm. Wear comfortable shoes for walking. And keep some time free with no plan at all, because that is what a trip to Bhimtal is really for.
